His new record clocks a colossal 662,258 text messages in 30 days where he used his iPhone 3GS on the AT&T network. Sticking to the itemised billing promise regardless of the size of bill, AT&T sent the bill, all 12,000+ pages of it, to the record holder. Those of you with itemised billing are probably used to receiving an A4 sized envelope at the end of each month… imagine receiving it in 3 large boxes!

Now I’ve did a little quick maths to figure out the regularity in which this guy would have been sending his text messages. I calculate it to be around 919 messages every hour, or 15 messages every minute. So basically he sent more text messages in half an hour than I did in the entire month of August.

It makes me wonder how many friends this guy must have. So if he has, say, 50 friends who he sends messages to, he would have sent each of them 300 messages each in a month.

The touchscreen keypad that comes with the iPhone can be a little cumbersome to use, particularly whilst walking. The predictive text function is great but all you iPhone users will undoubtably have sent a message once where you realize after it is too late that a mistake had been made.

The MP3 Micro Sport is tiny! It’s so small in fact, that it fits into your ear.

It measures only 16mm x 25mm x 22mm at 8grams. You get a stereo by connecting another earphone to the port. The MP3 Micro Sport is available only in Japan for the moment, in 2GB and 4GB, retailing at ¥4,980 (£35) for the 2GB, and add in ¥2,000 (£15) for the 4GB.

The S series also available with cradle speaker and weighs only 53g, about the same as your wallet (with no cash in it).

At long last, Bluetooth 3.0 is almost at our fingertips it has been revealed today.

Version 3.0 will be showcased by the Bluetooth Interest Group on the 21st of this month and it’s capabilities are mind blowing!

Makers have been quoted saying, “Transferring an entire music library, a complete DVD, a vacation’s worth of photos, all within seconds at the touch of a button and wirelessly will now be possible.”

The spec also includes a new ability called Enhanced Power Control. EPC will reduce the occurrence of disconnects that can be caused by actions such as putting a phone in a pocket, backpack, briefcase or purse.

Apple changed the look at manufacturing techniques of the MacBook and MacBook pro last October by introducing a wonderful unibody design where the lower casing is made from a single piece of aluminium. 

Yesterday, it has been revealed, a new patent suggests that the next product to incorporate this aluminium unibody case may be the iPod.

The above patent image shows the iPod Classic casing will be made out of a single slab of thick sheet metal, meaning it will be lighter, thinner and more robust than the existing versions.

This has both pros and cons concerning you, the consumer.

Although the robustness and toughness of the product would be greatly enhanced with it being made out of one slab of metal, it will undoubtably be more difficult or indeed impossible to take the iPod apart for replacement parts or repairs. This would mean turning to Apple directly if things go wrong.

However, the fact that it is made out of a single piece of sheet metal would mean the manufacturing costs to make t would be far cheaper, presumably lowering the retail price of the iPod.

This transition into single body products is becoming almost a trademark now for Apple. Will we see a unibody iPhone in the future? Lets hope so.

Meanwhile, DigiTimes claims that Apple has already placed orders for 100 million 8 Gigabit NAND Flash chips (mostly) from Samsung Electronics. This large order could tighten worldwide supplies of Flash memory. 

While the iPhone was not specifically cited as the reason for the large order, the timing seems to correspond to rumors of a new iPhone refresh this summer.”
